Welcome to my blog. I love massage, I love what I do and I’d like to share some of my past experiences in massage with you. So I was thinking about my first blog and remembered a lovely lady of 61 who came to me, in pain, in 2010.
She had some difficulty kneeling and walking downstairs. Having sought her doctor’s advice, he suggested she lose weight to improve her walking. Having myself made an assessment of her knees, I was happy to work around the patella’s (a thick, circular-triangular bone known as the knee cap, which articulates with the femur and covers and protects the anterior articular surface of the knee joint). I thought that I may be able to help but mentioned that to be effective, it may take a number of therapies over a significant period of time before she felt real improvement.
Around her patella’s I could feel what seemed like pebbles. I understood these pebble like nodules to be fat deposits, where I concentrated the treatment. I was pleased when we both agreed that there was an improvement after 6 months. I would say that this treatment was at times uncomfortable. However, in time there was a definite freeing up of the area around the knee, making stairs easier to negotiate. Instead of walking up and down the staircase sideways, my client was able to walk normally. I stress that this improvement did not occur overnight but over two years, improve it did, with massage as the source of treatment. It confirmed to me the power of good quality massage and she remains a friend and client of mine to this day.
Please take a look at the range of massage therapies which I offer.
